J&J Innovative Medicine: Data Science Commercialization Transformation

The Situation
We partnered with the newly appointed Chief Commercial Data Science Officer to help pressure test existing strategic plans for a new Department, Global Commercial Data Science Department, within J&J Innovative Medicine Commercialization unit, and drive operations.
Our group was selected based on our diverse background in life sciences, digital technologies, and our reputation for building successful Modern Marketing Departments.
THE PLAN
Team & Operations Build
– Create a digital ecosystem pulling from existing internal processes, enabling global and regional alignment.
– Recruited a team of more than 35 full-time employees, ranging from Vice Presidents to Director-level positions, in under 6 months.
– Develop processes and a project charter to document and track departmental workflows accurately.
– Collated with a design agency to complete department branding and supporting documentation.
– Established a Signal team page for seamless internal communication.
– Developed a PowerPoint presentation for onboarding purposes.
THE PLAN
Thought Leadership Campaign of Chief Commercial Data Science Officer
– Created a PowerPoint deck for our branded strategy.
– Conducted 15+ roadshow sessions across the organization.
– Scheduled articles and announcements in J&J Innovative Medicine’s Global newsletter.
The Result
In less than half a year, we were able to onboard 5 successful projects by raising awareness and understanding of our newly-formed Department’s strategy and goals, both at a global and regional level. This was made possible by the formation of the Precision Medicine and co-Diagnostics branding, which allowed for strategic partnerships to be built both within and outside the organization. This has ultimately led to our Department having a stronger and more impactful presence.
